Designing in the Central Valley
Valley projects are shaped by heat and water rather than by slope. Reference evapotranspiration here is among the highest in the state, so every square foot of lawn costs more water than it would on the coast — which makes the turf-replacement rebate worth real money. Flat sites still need grade: drainage on a half-percent fall is a contour problem, and the 1–2 ft interval is what makes it legible.
