Lekua works in all 58 California counties. Every one has a GIS provider wired, so any California address returns a parcel boundary, 1–2 ft contours, building footprints, fire-hazard zones, soil, sun, and a site-matched native plant palette. What changes county to county is how much comes from the county’s own records rather than statewide sources — and the export always names which.

Which California counties does Lekua cover?

All 58. Every county has a GIS provider wired, so any California address returns a parcel boundary, contours, building footprints, fire-hazard zones, soil, sun, and a site-matched native plant palette. What varies by county is how much comes from the county’s own records versus statewide and national sources — and the export always names which.

Why do only some counties have a coverage page?

A county earns a page when there is something county-specific to say — its own parcel service, its own building footprints with measured heights, encoded setback tables, named water districts. Counties where every layer is the statewide fallback would produce near-identical pages that say nothing a designer can act on, so they aren’t published. The absence of a page is not an absence of coverage.

Do you have setbacks for my town?

39 California jurisdictions have their residential setback table transcribed from the adopted code with its citation, and each has a page listing the yards district by district. 24 of those have passed independent review, so Lekua draws the setback envelope on the plan; the rest ship cited on the export with an explicit “unverified” advisory and no drawn lines. Where nothing is encoded, the zone is still resolved and labeled.

What contour interval will I get?

One to two feet almost everywhere: contours are generated on demand from the 1-meter USGS 3DEP elevation model rather than read from a published county layer, so the interval doesn’t depend on whether the county publishes contours. Where a county publishes finer native LiDAR contours — Marin, for example — those are used instead. The 10-ft USGS national data is the last fallback, and the sheet says when it was used.

Is the base map survey-grade?

No — it is planning-level (BIMForum LOD 200), assembled from county GIS and LiDAR records, and the sheet states each source’s tolerance in numbered General Notes: property lines ±5–15 ft, elevations ±1 ft on NAVD 88, building footprints ±5–10 ft. It is built for pre-design and concept work. Construction staking and boundary determinations still belong to a licensed land surveyor.
