Yuba City Water Commercial Landscape Conversion Rebate

Requirements

• Apply and get approval before removing any lawn.
• Mulch the converted area.
• Drip, bubblers or high-efficiency nozzles; no overhead sprinklers unless the city approves.
• Commercial property owners or their representatives only, with a lawn watered by City potable water through an active irrigation system.
• Apply online at yubacity.net/rebates (or email waterrebates@yubacity.net) with photos and a site plan; a city inspector visits, and work starts only after the written approval letter, usually 2 to 4 weeks. (530) 822-7571.
• Climate-appropriate plants (low or medium water use in WUCOLS) covering at least half the area at maturity, at least 3 inches of mulch, and permeable hardscape. Remove the grass by sheet mulching or sod removal; artificial turf, plastic weed barrier and invasive plants don't qualify.
• Finish by October 31, 2026, then a post-installation inspection with receipts and photos; the check follows 6 to 8 weeks after final approval.

Steps, in order

1. Apply on City of Yuba City - Department of Utilities’s site and wait for approval. Lawn removed before approval usually does not qualify.
2. Remove the lawn and plant to the requirements above.
3. Send what the program page asks for once the work is done.
