Cotati Water Cash for Grass Turf Rebate

Requirements

• Apply and get approval before removing any lawn.
• Replant with low-water or native plants.
• The agreement commits the owner to keep the new irrigation hardware and landscape, or replace them with equal or better water-conserving materials, for as long as they own the property. The application packet itself sets no drip or mulch specification; ask the City at the pre-inspection.
• Check the property is inside the Cotati city limits (the City zoning map shows the line). Email the application and the signed agreement to engrservices@cotaticity.gov with the subject "[your address] Cash for Grass Rebate Application", then schedule the pre-inspection. Phone (707) 665-3638.
• No work before the City issues the Certificate of Participation and Approval, which records the square feet approved at $1.00 per sq ft. After the work, schedule the post-installation inspection; staff verify the measurement and process the rebate, up to $500.
• The application asks for the utility account number, the total grass on site and the square feet to be removed with a dimensioned sketch, and the name, license number and phone of any landscape contractor doing the work.
• The applicant must be the legal owner or hold the owner's written consent, and signs an agreement that keeps the water-saving landscape for as long as they own the property, holds the City harmless, and assigns any carbon credits from the savings to the City.

Steps, in order

1. Apply on City of Cotati’s site and wait for approval. Lawn removed before approval usually does not qualify.
2. Remove the lawn and plant to the requirements above.
3. Send what the program page asks for once the work is done.
