- For property owners who get water from the City of Hollister, the City of San Juan Bautista, Sunnyslope County Water District or San Benito County Water District (Zone 6 only).
- Call WRASBC at (831) 637-4378 for a pre-inspection; start only after its approval letter, and finish within 120 days. Projects started or finished before approval, dead landscape and new construction don't qualify.
- Replace the lawn with low- or moderate-water plants on at least 25% of the area and permeable hardscape (pavers, crushed granite, stone, mulch); no high-water plants, and turf can't go back in while you own the property.
- Any irrigation in the converted area must be leak-free low-volume drip, micro-spray or bubbler with no runoff, overspray or misting. A W-9 comes with any rebate of $600 or more.
