Pasadena Water and Power Turf Replacement Rebate

Requirements

• Apply and get approval before removing any lawn.
• Include a rain garden or other stormwater feature.
• Mulch the converted area.
• Convert overhead sprays to drip, micro-spray, bubblers or rotating nozzles, or cap the heads, or remove the irrigation and hand-water.
• Reserve on SoCal Water$mart before removing any turf, then finish within 180 days and submit Step 2. Review takes about 4 to 5 weeks, and the rebate arrives 8 to 10 weeks after approval.
• The lawn must be existing turf: dead or dying turf and bare dirt don't qualify, nor do projects already started. At least 250 sq ft, or all the turf if the yard has less.
• Homes and buildings of up to 4 units: up to 5,000 sq ft. Commercial, HOAs and buildings of 5 or more units: up to 50,000 sq ft.
• At least 3 plants per 100 sq ft with a 3-inch ring of organic mulch; capture rainfall with a rain garden, rain barrel, cistern, berm, swale or grading. No synthetic turf, turf-like or invasive plants.
• Optional: $100 per new tree, up to five ($500), through SoCal Water$mart's tree rebate.
