Glendale Water & Power Turf Replacement Program

Requirements

• Apply and get approval before removing any lawn.
• Include a rain garden or other stormwater feature.
• Replace or modify overhead spray sprinklers (drip or another efficient system).
• Apply on SoCal Water$mart and get a reservation before removing any turf; then 180 days to finish and request the rebate. The rebate can't be raised above the reserved amount, so measure carefully.
• At least 3 plants per 100 sq ft, a stormwater retention feature, only permeable hardscape in the converted area, and overhead spray sprinklers replaced or modified. Synthetic turf doesn't qualify.
• Follow Glendale's landscaping rules (Zoning Code Chapter 30.31; Planning, (818) 548-2140). Parkway plants over 12 inches need a Public Works permit, and non-living materials over 18 inches aren't allowed there ((818) 548-3945).
